Sunscreen? “Check”
Croquet mallets? “Check”
Sailor hats? “Check”
We all know how challenging social contact has been for everyone this year. Finally, with the UK’s relaxing of COVID rules allowing us to meet in a safe, socially distanced and COVID compliant manner, we were thrilled to host our first-ever RevLifter summer party.
Toasting success
Our team is almost unrecognizable since our last social gathering, having more than doubled in size since we went into lockdown. The chance to meet in-person was eventually seized in late July as the RevLifter summer party took over London under the 80F sunshine.
Many staff across every department based at our HQ – including engineering, product, sales, marketing, design, and client services – gathered for a well-earned day off to celebrate and reflect on all the success from the first half of 2021.
Our new annual tradition of a summer get-together started in the impressive setting of Dulwich Croquet club for a few games of the quintessentially English sport. Team members had the chance to put faces to names, meet some of our latest recruits, and even settle the odd score with a morning session that really showcased the camaraderie that’s driven RevLifter to rapid growth over the past year.
With pride intact and suntans in tow, the team made the short journey to the Victoria Embankment, where they soon became the envy of passers-by with an afternoon on board the Bar & Co Boat.
The cocktails and BBQ were accompanied by a visit from magician Saavan, whose card tricks and illusions had several team members challenging themselves to guess how exactly he did that. Thankfully all personal belongings were swiftly de-modified and returned before the team headed into Covent Garden for their night out.
Adapting to change
The brains behind our social calendar, Charly Lamb, Senior Culture Partner at RevLifter, commented: “The past year or so has been a strange time for all, and our team has adapted incredibly well to creating a flexible and remote working culture, delivering great work and getting stuck in with the odd virtual event too.
“We were thrilled to be able to throw such a lovely day out, to thank and reward everyone for their hard work in the most inclusive way we could. It seems fun was had by all, even if there were a few sore heads, which were mainly sunburn related!
“Hopefully this is the first of many gatherings where we can create, collaborate and just have a bit of fun!’’
